Welcome to the Crete Public Schools Adult Education Program! Our mission is to empower individuals through education, opening doors to new opportunities for employment and further education. We offer a variety of services, including GED® preparation, English language acquisition (ELA), and family literacy programs, tailored to meet the unique needs of our diverse community.
At Crete Public Schools, we understand the importance of flexibility. Our programs are designed to accommodate busy schedules, allowing you to balance your studies with work and family responsibilities. Whether you're looking to complete your high school education, improve your English skills, or enhance your literacy to better support your family, we are here to support you every step of the way. Even more, all of our classes, resources, and programming are completely free to eligible individuals.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Adult Education Program, participants must:
Be at least 18 years old (or 16-17 years old with a school waiver)
Demonstrate a need for basic skills improvement, English language acquisition, or not have completed a U.S. high school diploma
Be committed to attending classes and completing assignments

Class Schedule for 2024-2025
Morning Classes
ELA / Transitions: 8 AM - 11 AM, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
GED® Preparation: 9 AM - 1 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Evening Classes
All Classes: 6:15 PM - 8:30 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Volunteers Needed
Want to give back to the community in a meaningful way? Craving an engaging and rewarding volunteer experience? The Crete Public Schools Adult Education Program is seeking enthusiastic adult volunteers to assist in our English language acquisition (ELA) and GED® preparation classrooms!
Volunteers are a crucial part of our program, offering support and encouragement that can make a significant impact on our students' lives. By volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to form lasting connections and make a difference in your community.
No prior experience is necessary to become a volunteer. We ask that individuals meet the following criteria:
Have a high school diploma.
Possess a good command of English.
Be able to speak clearly and hear well.
Have a willingness to assist adult learners, some of whom may have learning disabilities.
Show patience to allow students to achieve on their own.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Volunteers work closely with our dedicated instructors and may be asked to teach small groups of students or provide individual instruction. Additionally, volunteers may assist with attendance, testing, and other classroom duties. We offer flexible schedules to accommodate your availability.
