Fourteen Crete Public School teachers secured teacher grants awarded by the Crete Public Schools Foundation. The grants were worth a total of $34,869, almost twice as much as last year.
"Our CPS teachers are amazing. These grants allow them the opportunity to enrich what they are already doing and to think outside of the box," said CPS Foundation Director Marilea Thiem.
Each year the Foundation sends out an application to CPS teachers who can apply for additional items to enhance students' learning. The applications go through a verification process and then the grant committee meets to determine how to allocate the money available.
December 5th the winning classroom teachers were surprised with a large check and visit from the CPS superintendent and foundation board members.
